JURIDICAL STUDIES

About

The Department of Juridical Studies, Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya, stands as an erudite bastion of legal inquiry and philosophical reflection, where the enduring principles of justice are interrogated, reimagined and disseminated through an intellectual tradition grounded in critical analysis, scholarly rigour and an unwavering commitment to the public good. The vision of this department is to be a citadel of legal thought and intellectual excellence, nurturing jurisprudential minds who will interrogate dominant legal paradigms, champion equity and act as catalyst for transformative justice across diverse spheres of society.

The department offers a constellation of programs at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels, designed not merely to transmit legal knowledge but to nurture intellectual independence, rhetorical finesse and analytical precision. Our pedagogy privileges the Socratic Method, dialogical engagement and jurisprudential depth, ensuring that our students emerge not as technicians of the law, but as thinkers and reformers.

Our distinguished faculty, comprising seasoned scholars, practitioners and thoughtful leaders guide students in becoming critical interlocutors in the legal domain. Through moot court simulations, legal aid initiatives, symposia and discursive colloquia, the Department transcends the theoretical policies into practical implementation, embedding its work in the lived realities of communities. These engagements serve as vital laboratories where legal principles are tested against the complexities of human experience.
