About the Library

The Central Library of the Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya aims to provide quality knowledge and useful resources to the users of the university. The library is well-organized in terms of its presently available resources. The Central Library, MSSV is committed to serve the institution and the society at large. The Central Library has been started functioning since 2014.

The Genesis

With an honest aim to establish a university in the name of the great Saint of Assam Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva, the Srimanta Sankaradeva Educational Socio-Economic Development Trust (which is also the sponsoring body of the university) started its dream run way back in 2009. At the same time they also started to collect books, periodicals, etc. of various disciplines as donation from the well-wishers with an objective to establish the University Library. After a successful mission of collecting donated documents from pros and cons of Assam, they ended the journey at Coochbehar.

Present Scenario

The Central Library has been serving the user community through its two branches at Nagaon and Guwahati campuses of the University. At present, the library holds about 17247+ books, 288 Nos. of Back Volumes, 24 Nos. of Journals, 8 Nos. of Periodicals and 8 Nos. of Newspapers. Apart from these resources the e-library of the Central Library has been serving its users through the resources of National Digital Library.
