INFRASTRUCTURE

INFRASTRUCTURE AVAILABLE AT PRESENT:

 

(A) NAGAON MAIN CAMPUS

The offices and classes at the Nagaon Campus have been arranged in the multi storeyed R.C.C. buildings in the Srimanta Sankaradeva Sangha Complex, Kalongpar, Nagaon. After establishment of the University construction of two more four storeyed buildings started. Construction of one of these two buildings has already been completed and the other is nearing completion.

CLASSROOMS:

Hygienic classrooms with comfortable seating have been arranged. All classrooms are fitted with eco-friendly boards. Ceiling mounted LCD Projectors and Smart Boards have been provided in some classrooms.

COMPUTER LABORATORY AND INTERNET FACILITY:

A well designed Computer Laboratory having capacity for 25 students at a time has been established. The offices and departments have been networked. Wi-Fi facility has been provided to all members of the University.

LIBRARY:

The University has a rich library with thousands of books, journals, magazines and newspapers. Students are allowed to borrow books from the library. Provision has also been made for a Reading Room in a well ventilated location. Library is kept open from 09.00 AM to 06.30 P.M. on weekdays. Before one month of the End Semester Examinations the Library is kept open in the Saturdays too.

E-LIBRARY :

A separate e-library with seating capacity of 14 persons at a time has been organized with all accessories. Membership of National Digital Library (NDL) has been obtained, wherein the users are facilitated with access of at least 80 lakh e-resources.

AUDITORIUM:

A well equipped sophisticated auditorium having capacity of about 300 persons have been recently constructed. National Level Seminar, State Level Debating Competition and cultural programme sponsored by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) have already been organised in the Auditorium.

BOYS' AND GIRLS' COMMON ROOM (SEPARATELY):

Provisions have been made for Boys' Common Room and Girls' Common Room separately so that they can take rest on leisure time. Some items of indoor games have been arranged in the Common Rooms. Besides, separate lavatories have also been arranged for boys and girls.

SPORTS & GAMES:

As the University in its present campus has no sufficient space for arranging sports and games, permission from the Nagaon District Sports Association has been obtained to use the Indoor Stadium and the famous Nurul Amin Stadium of Nagaon, as and when required.

Each year 'Varsity Week' are being organised in full co-operation of the teachers, officers, employees and students of the University. Several events of games & sports, literary activities and items of culture are organised during the Varsity Week. A Friendly Cricket Match of the Students vs Teachers-Officers & Employees of the University are played on the inaugural day and a Cultural Evening organised on the concluding day of each Varsity Week.


(B) GUWAHATI CAMPUS

The Guwahati campus of the university has been arranged at the "Sankari Sanskriti Kendra" of the Srimanta Sankaradeva Sangha at Rupnagar, Guwahati. Offices and classes are housed in some floors of the two newly constructed spacious R.C.C. buildings of the Kendra.
All necessary facilities like library, laboratories, canteen and lavatories have been arranged in the campus. In one of the buildings already there is a state of the art auditorium with a very large stage.

MEASURES FOR STUDENTS' EMPOWERMENT:

To synergise Knowledge, Skill and Attitude in the students four (one in each semester) Add-on Courses, viz., (i) Computer Applications; (ii) Life Skills, (iii) Communication Skills, and (iv) Sankaradeva Studies (Creating Values, Forming Attitude) have been provided in the postgraduate programmes in Humanities and Social Sciences. Various activities, viz., seminars, symposia, talks, debating competition and inspirational lectures are very frequently organised for the students of the University.

STUDENTS' COUNSELLING & GUIDANCE CELL:

To offer proper counselling to the students to face the various challenges confronted by them and also to guide them to achieve the desired goals, a Counselling & Guidance Cell comprising of the teachers and officers has been working.

TRAINING & PLACEMENT CELL:

A Training & Placement Cell has been formed in the University to provide training to the students at regular intervals to help them to be successful in getting jobs or starting entrepreneurial activities by themselves. The Cell also assist the students in getting information regularly regarding availability of job in the various enterprises.

GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL CELL:

A Grievance Redressal Cell has been formed to address the grievance of the students, if any, and take up measures promptly.

STUDENTS' AID FUND:

A fund has been created out of the fees collected from the students under the head 'Students' Aid Fund'. Really needy students are identified and the fund distributed among them.
